These small to medium size capacity diffusers from the Quebec company Le Comptoir Aroma are designed to release essential oils into a room for aromatherapy using ordinary tap water as the carrier.

But instead of using heat to vaporize the oils (which can compromise their effectiveness), they use a disc to create inaudible high-frequency ultrasonic electrical vibrations to create an ultra-fine aromatherapy mist.
